Erik ten Hag Confirmed as New Man U Boss

Manchester United have officially confirmed the news: Erik ten Hag will be their new team manager at the end of the 2021/22 season.

This afternoon, Thursday 21 April, the Red Devils’ Twitter account shared that the 52-year-old Ajax boss would join the crew at Old Trafford, marking the fifth manager to take the job since Sir Alex Ferguson’s 2013 retirement – coincidentally, the last time they won the English Premier League.

United have endured a noticeable decline in fortunes since then, with each new boss offering changes but not adding silverware to the cabinet.

Many are optimistic about Ten Hag’s appointment as he has guided Ajax to the top of the Eredivisie table, and his team is looking strongly poised to win the Dutch competition title for the third time next month.

The Dutchman also helped the four-time European champions all the way to the 2019 Champions League semi-finals, a feat they last accomplished over two decades prior.

In a statement provided by the club, he said: “It is a great honour to be appointed manager of Manchester United and I am hugely excited by the challenge ahead. I know the history of this great club and the passion of the fans, and I am absolutely determined to develop a team capable of delivering the success they deserve.”
